Fleece blankets - There is a growing trend in the travel industry to reduce the environmental damage caused by washing - it takes on average, 7 litres of water to wash one blanket. Apart from washing costs, there is also the cost of transporting and recycling blankets for reusage. More and more Airlines are moving to fleece blankets as a way both to reduce costs and improve their environmental image.

These polyester blankets are very inexpensive and can be washed, or even given away on the flight. In some cases airlines sell them on board as part of a comfort pack, including socks, eyeshades and earplugs.
